Analphabet
With haunting prose, a ghost cures toxic relationships and illuminates gay cruising spots. A plea for a society that embraces the irrational.
After two lovers argue loudly on a beach at sunset, a ghost named Analphabet appears over the sea to tell his story and sing songs to the couple. Alberto Cortés, a revelation in the art landscape, calls himself a marica andaluza ('Andalusian faggot'), highlighting the off-centre perspective that has allowed him to develop a singular language. Invited to open the festival, he presents Analphabet, the story of a ghost who roams cruising spots, the outdoor spaces for sexual encounters between men. With haunting prose, Cortés crafts a character born to heal toxic relationships, partially reflecting his experience of being called 'irrational', a label he defiantly reclaims with this piece. Inspired by José Bergamín’s La decadencia del analfabetismo, Cortés criticises a society that sacrifices poetry for rational order, where everything must be organised, legible, and fixed, like the alphabet. On stage, accompanied by violinist Luz Prado, Cortés is magnetic; his body vibrates as if words flow through him like blood, like lines in a poem, like men in the woods at night. Cruising and poetry: Analphabet clings to a world perpetually threatened by too much daylight. Perhaps there are no words, or enough letters, for a night beyond description and that promises to be an unforgettable experience.

Mauvaises vies ? By Marc Martin
The exhibition embraces an uninhibited eroticism. In light of evolving mindsets, intimacy in art remains a political sticking point. Marc Martin unveils slices of life that go beyond—without excluding—heteronormative representations. By examining the way we view the body and sexuality, he questions an era that is, paradoxically, saturated with obscenity.
Turning otherness into strength, our diversity into wealth. Uniting through our differences, in our differences.
With the exhibition “MAUVAISES VIES?” opening Brussels’ Pride Week, artist Marc Martin sends a clear message: All lives are of equal worth. Within the LGBTQI+ community, we must protect the most vulnerable among us. LaVallée, a cultural and welcoming venue, offers the perfect setting.
The scenography is built around the idea of protection and revolves around “Safe Places”. Confronted with resistance and obstacles, the audience is invited to deepen its understanding of the fight for emancipation and against stigma.
The exhibition embraces uninhibited eroticism. Despite shifting mentalities, intimacy in art remains a political fault line. Marc Martin reveals slices of life that transcend heteronormative representations—without excluding them. By observing how we look at bodies and sexuality, he questions an era that is, at the same time, saturated with obscenity: What can be shown? What must remain hidden?
Composed of new works and photographs/installations from Marc Martin’s recent projects, “MAUVAISES VIES?” at LaVallée–Brussels aims to be inclusive and unifying. An exhibition with no tolerance for narrow-mindedness, prudishness, or isolationism.
Am I “normal,” “abnormal”? That question is no longer relevant.

Synopsis: Massie, Addi, Lylybeth and Joy are four non-binary artists at a turning point in their careers on Brussels' burgeoning drag scene. While this chosen family is close-knit and supportive, their blood family often has difficulty understanding their identity and their profession. Many truths and emotions remain unspoken.
Their shows, sometimes very funny, sometimes very dark, often both, are directly inspired by their daily struggles. The stage allows them to express their gender identities. It's also their livelihood and the place where they draw the energy to force their way into our society.
As their performances become increasingly notable, a quest for identity and artistic recognition takes shape. These artists aspire to something essential: the need to embrace who they are and, above all, to be accepted for who they are.

Transidentity Awereness Workshops - Brussels Pride Week
The aim of this Transidentity Awareness Workshop is to raise public awareness of transidentity in an accessible and interactive way, and to show how the social construction of gender norms and stereotypes can lead to exclusion and discrimination (only in English).
Who are transgender people and what do we mean by ‘gender identities’? What are the most common misconceptions, and why do they raise questions? What are the human rights issues surrounding the legal situation of trans* people, and where is it heading in Europe and Belgium?
From childhood, we were taught that human beings were either “girls” or “boys”. In science lessons, we were taught that there were males and females and that was that. In reality, is it really that simple?
In conversation and in the media, we often hear talk of homos, lesbians, gays, straights, trans people, sexual orientations, gender identities and so on. But what exactly do these expressions mean?
Society harbours a number of beliefs and prejudices that reduce people who don't fit the norm to simplistic, often pejorative and degrading, schemes. Transgender people are particularly vulnerable to this.

While sport can be a powerful vehicle for equality, solidarity, and diversity, certain disciplines are known for excluding rather than uniting—and combat sports are often among them.

Born to be manly - Brussels Pride Week
In what appears to be a gym locker room, a man opens up about his life and his awakening to sexuality and love. A story fueled by as much love as violence, like so many others, told without filter with a body on edge.
In an era where the lines of identity are shifting, the question of masculinity is becoming complex and requires introspection to redefine itself.
What does it mean to "be a man" today? What are the injunctions that weigh on individuals, and what impact do our actions have on those around us?
We are two men, two artists, and yet our relationship to masculinity proved, during the research, to be very different. It has been constructed throughout our lives and cannot ignore the multiple identities that compose us: homosexual, son of a farm worker, from a rural background, son of North African immigrants, artist, with a muscular body or a slouchy body, brother, father, or son... All of this conditions our daily relationships with others and our attempts to embrace this "masculine ideal" proposed by the society in which we grew up.
Drawing on these multiple identities and driven by the need to explore these shifting contours, Romain Delhoux drew on his memories and experiences to write the lyrics and compose the dances that punctuate this first draft of a show.
We don't have any answers to offer; we're simply trying to sketch the movement of our time and offer a mosaic of sensations and suggestions so that everyone can glimpse memories or echoes of their own experiences.
The idea behind the project is to expose masculinity in all its complexity, to connect the intimate and the universal.

FAMILLE CHOISIE
Conversion Therapies: A Unknown Reality - Brussels Pride Week
Screening & debate: “Nothing to Cure”
Conversion therapy remains a hidden reality. The documentary Nothing to Cure by Axel Falguieres gives a voice to survivors and dismantles the rhetoric justifying these harmful practices.
Following the screening, an interactive debate will bring together experts, activists, and organizations to discuss the impact of these practices and another crucial issue: family rejection of LGBTQIA+ youth. A key moment to raise awareness and take action.
Le Refuge, a place of welcome and rebound
Le Refuge is a temporary accommodation solution for young LGBTQIA+ people aged 18 to 25 who have broken away from their families because of their sexual orientation and/or gender expression. We offer them a safe and caring environment, a place to rest and recover.
But we are also a place where they can bounce back: each stay is designed as a step towards independence. We support young people by giving them the tools they need to find their place and build their future.

The history of LGBTQIA+ struggles, how to apply yesterday’s lessons on what is happening today - Brussels Pride Week
Around us, the rights of LGBTQIA+ people are being threatened, how can we apply yesterday’s lessons to what is happening today?
In the US, transgender people are no longer allowed to serve in the military or participate in sports competitions. Since 2024, Bulgaria has banned "LGBTQIA+ propaganda".
Yet these countries had seen progress in minority rights, so why the setbacks? What lessons have we not learned from the past? How to remain vigilant in the face of the rise of reactionary speeches?
We would like to answer these questions through our guests: an international LGBTQIA+ rights specialist and a historian.

Malign Junction (Goodbye, Berlin)
An intense choreography of desires, disorientation and finality, with Berlin as a projection of freedom and transformation.
Alex Baczyński-Jenkins’ work has been described by writer Maxi Wallenhorst as 'casual sublime'—those mesmerising, unexpected moments of fascination and wonder that emerge from everyday life: the appearance of intimate gestures, affective connections, or expressions of collectivity. In Malign Junction (Goodbye, Berlin) (gesturing towards Christopher Isherwood’s 1939 depiction of the final days of Berlin nightlife and cabaret culture during the rise of fascism), Berlin functions as both a specific location and a plane of projection—a site embodying histories of transformation, countercultural life, freedom, and endings. Baczyński-Jenkins continues his distinctive choreographic exploration of landscapes of desire and disorientation, this time engaging with the concept of finitude. The choreography unfolds as a low-key ‘grande finale’, as if the performers are dancing at the edge of an ending. On stage, they intertwine with high intensity; their gestures continuously emerge and dissolve into formlessness. Following the enormous success of Untitled (Holding Horizon) at the festival, Baczyński-Jenkins returns with his signature practice of relationality, queer affection, and the embrace of new temporalities.

Queer Legacy
Queer Legacy: a flamboyant evening at Brussels City Hall!
On 15 May at 7pm and 9pm, Cabaret Mademoiselle presents a unique show blending drag, burlesque, and pole dance. A powerful, celebratory, and activist event that honours LGBTQIA+ pride and the richness of diverse identities — right in the heart of the city.
Cabaret Mademoiselle has become one of the iconic hotspots of Brussels’ nightlife. With a clever blend of humour, performance, and culture, it draws inspiration from the cabarets of yesteryear without ever lapsing into nostalgia. This free-spirited and joyfully subversive venue champions all forms of artistic expression.
On 15 May, at 7pm and 9pm, it takes over Brussels City Hall with Queer Legacy, an original production that combines drag, burlesque, and pole dance, brought to life by five flamboyant queer artists:
• La Veuve: a razor-sharp mistress of ceremonies and finalist of Drag Race Belgique Season 2.
• Alvilda: winner of the season, intense and electrifying.
• Chéri·e Chapstick: a fluidly identified artist, mixing humour and glitter.
• Olga Kalachnikova: an explosive pole dancer, as hilarious as she is virtuosic.
• Tina Strogofsky: a retro draglesque icon, blending sensuality and absurdity.
In this landmark site, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage location, Queer Legacy celebrates diverse identities, LGBTQIA+ struggles, and the pride of simply existing. A powerful statement, in harmony with Brussels Pride, already recognised at a regional level and now seeking UNESCO intangible cultural heritage status.

Queerying nature
Did you know that the diversity of nature is much greater and more surprising than you might imagine?
A multitude of animal behaviours can be observed, ranging from relationships between individuals of the same sex to natural sex changes in certain species of fish, as well as a variety of family structures. Biodiversity reminds us that nature is not limited to the frameworks we know. To mark International Day for the Rights of LGBTQIA+ People, Michaël Loriaux, Deputy Mayor for Equal Opportunities, invites you to attend a screening of the film Queerying nature, by Aline Magrez, on Thursday 15 May 2025.
This documentary explores the diversity of behaviour in the animal world and questions the biases that can influence scientific research. Through an innovative look at the plurality of sexual and gender identities, this sensitive and poetic film invites us to broaden our perception of living things.
And to round off the screening in style, we invite you to discover a performance by artist Camille Pier, combining improvisation and spontaneity: an experience full of surprises awaits you!

These artists aspire to something essential: the need to embrace who you are and, above all, to be accepted for who you are.

AB X MISSFITTE present “Dykonic”
Mi amor,Can you feel the vibrations? Boots stomping. Voices booming. Gears shifting. Bells ringing. Paint spraying. Bass thumping. There is noise in the streets. The countdown to a Dykonic counter~pride gathering has begun. On the 16th evening of the 5th month, we march and dance to the beat of our own hearts. Rumor has it that we will take over the concert hall where we used to lose ourselves in each other's goosebumps. You beamed with lavender light, screaming: “Let’s talk about history and gender, baby! Let’s talk about you and me!” And I took every opportunity to confess to all mothers & daughters, sapphics, fags & fluid sprouts waiting at the bar: “You know? Her heart is my home now”. In your kiss I could taste the rave~olution. What an outrageous feeling to blossom freely and untamed for just a few hours. Before we enter this sacred space again, I want you to first march into the sunset with me. Not together as in happy, but queer as in "we were always here". Feel the acid bloom. Feel the juice. Feel the electricity of our shared footfall - and notice how your chest is exploding with anticipation. Do you hear the echoes of engines revving and wheels skidding? Remember what you used to say: “A day without a dyke* and their bike is a day without sunshine!”And lastly, mi amor, can you yet smell the scent of sun-bleached leather softening and curling as it turns into flowers? Rebelliously yours, always,N.MISSFITTE is a fluid raveground: a queer-forward, care-oriented concept hosting parties and events in Brussels since 2018. Over the years the project has grown their highly loyal & distinct crowd, and has become a very valued shelter for quality music {heart}beats and freedom-craving rave creatures in Belgium’s queer electronic scene. Entering their universe is having techno love seeds dropped into one's burning soul while house drums release the body. Their mantra? Dancing is caring. Some of the international guest artists previously booked by MISSFITTE: Slim Soledad, FAFF & Marie Malarie.JeanneToJeanneTo lives in the fast lane: aerodynamic style, high energy, and songs that flirt with pop, techno, and Eurodance. Her tracks - produced by Cadillacprod (Ben PLG, Asma, Te Huur) - are a bold mix of club aggression and intimate vulnerability, exploring love, desire, and connection. Think Ascendant Vierge meets COBRAH. It’s emotional, it's sweaty, and it’s made to move. Planningtorock Planningtorock (aka Jam Rostron) is a trans non-binary, self-taught artist queering sound since 2006. With four acclaimed albums, they’ve collaborated with Lady Gaga, Robyn, The Knife, and Arca. From remixing icons to composing for Chanel and Comme Des Garçons, their world fuses dance, fashion, and radical joy. Expect bold sounds and boundary-breaking performance. SHYBOISHYBOI is a Jamaican-born, NYC-based DJ and artist disrupting dancefloors with politically charged, genre-defying sets. A pillar of the city’s underground, her explosive mixes echo themes of identity and resistance. She’s played MoMA PS1, Guggenheim, Boiler Room, and festivals from Unsound to Nyege Nyege. Expect global energy with fierce intent. Goth JafarGoth Jafar is the spellbinding alter ego of Suffy Baala - a DJ born online, raised by NYC raves. From trance to K-pop, her sets radiate trans joy and digital sorcery. Since 2020, she’s toured Europe, played Boiler Room, and appeared at Primavera and Trance Party. Every show is an act of gender euphoria and a love letter to the girls on their journey.MaaraMaara, the Montréal-native, Berlin-based DJ and producer has carved out a distinctive niche in the dance music world with her innovative sound and energetic presence: since her smash 2021 arrival on the scene with the ‘Ultimate Reward’ EP, Maara has evolved at pace, with a hectic touring schedule taking her far and wide and a string of heavy hitting releases on noted labels such as X-Kalay, Kalahari Oyster Cult, and Spray’s formidable imprint Punctuality, which just released her suitably titled label debut, ‘Drama On’.There’s a swagger and undeniable sense of fun to everything Maara does; it’s unusual to see an artist so at ease switching between references and energies – from poppy and playful to hard and relentless – and making them all so undeniably her own.Acid Lily (MISSFITTE resident)Acid Lily is a Brussels-based artist who is rarely tied to one genre, exploring music in all its diversity with one crystal clear goal: uniting people on the dancefloor. Effortlessly fluctuating between disco and house to hard techno and hyperpop with some jazz in between, this cross-genre producer continues to her bring her signature big bass energy. When she’s not behind the decks, you’ll find her producing and tweaking her own tracks, or sometimes building sound systems. Expect (B)Ass Music. Stretch before coming.Melissa Juice (MISSFITTE resident)Melissa Juice is a Canada-born, Brussels-based queer DJ blending progressive, acidic, and trancey sounds with hypnotic vocals and long, fluid mixes. Co-organiser of MISSFITTE and LUBE, she builds care-focused, inclusive dancefloors. With sets at C12, Fuse, Dour, Horst and more, Mel also champions harm reduction and radical joy through rave.Care team by Brussels By Night

Michelle Gurevich - Jay-Jay Johanson - Oi Va Voi & many more
Michelle’s 7th bedroom produced album - It Was the Moment - will not disappoint those anticipating a new soundtrack for their darkness and saudade. It may even be her most vulnerable and expressive work yet, not unsurprising as it was written and produced during a period of grief and mental instability. There’s a new level of emotional surrender in these songs, confirming her place in the lineage of dramatic chansonniers.
Themes include a fatalistic submission to passion, the ephemeral nature of encounters, the loss of mother and home, the end of days, and losing one’s mind in both the best and worst ways possible. Michelle offers her entire palette of sound here, from dark Lynchian realism, to elegant humor, to queen of epic melodrama.

C12 Pride Nite
Our annual Pride night is a tribute to queer joy and collective energy—a gathering where bodies speak, genres dissolve, and the dancefloor becomes a shared pulse.
Lolsnake aka Danielle Lumma Rahal is a Berlin based Iraqi-American DJ and the founder of the Queer party series Weeeirdos, which holds an ongoing residency at Säule Berlin. Leaning into several layers of dance music, from metallic techno, angelic trance and squishy acid to cosmic bleep, Lolsnake (she/they) fuses a maelstrom of textures into their sets, stirring up heady atmospheres and hypnotic moods on the dancefloor, forming a magnetic aesthetic of their own.
Stanislawa (she/her) always keeps an open-mind and an open-heart to push her values onto her music. Living between Brussels and Amsterdam, she is well known to provide the crowd with her top-tier selected 90’s trance, sexy techno grooves and progressive house bangers. She is the founder of the queer party collective Deep Down East. In May 2024, Stanislawa released her first EP, Forever Strong, featuring 4 very personal tracks merging hard-hitting 909 kicks with 90s trancy leads.
Support in C12 by sookie & su:zy, two emerging talents from the Brussels scene.
YoungWoman is an Egyptian Amsterdam-based transfemme DJ, producer, radio host and co-founder of Amsterdam’s first T4T Collective: Los Angles. This sonic explosive energy combined with a refreshing & irresistible playfulness behind the decks have dazzled audiences live at festivals like Rewire & Down The Rabbit Hole , clubs like De School & Garage Noord and her residencies at Oroko Radio , Echobox Radio & RadioRadioFm.
LOV aka Lifeonvenus is a Senegalese and French DJ, freshly blooming and making their way in the Belgian Queer parties and music scene.

LES NUITS 2025 : Bota By Night : Toccororo - Tygapaw & more
Bota By Night, a fixture in our series of Les Nuits Botanique events, is bound to bring some serious fun on May 23rd. The event, taking place just after our soirée experimental with Jenny Hval, Alabaster DePlume, Merope and more, will feature some of the best international dj's performing boundary-pushing dj-sets.
In the Orangerie Toccororo and Rui Ho are set to turn up the energy with pop edits and Latinx bangers, while BLACKCLUB take us back to the roots (but also the future!) of electronic music with their thumping Chicago techno sound. Navigating between dancehall and Detroit, Tygapaw takes us on a deep dive into the queer black electronic scene — they will be joined in the Museum by the Egyptian-Palestinian producer and dj Oldyungmayn, whose sets feature techno, electro, trance and Middle Eastern influences.

Dyke* March Brussels
On Friday the 16th of May, Brussels will host its very first Dyke* March. This historic event brings together lesbian, queer, bisexual, pansexual, trans, and non-binary individuals in a march of visibility, resistance, and solidarity. The march begins at 6:00 PM at The Crazy Circle in Ixelles and concludes with an afterparty at Ancienne Belgique. Everyone is invited to join and support!
In a time when LGBTI individuals still disproportionately face violence, discrimination, and erasure, the need for a dedicated, combative space has never been more urgent. Recent research by the Agency for Home Affairs – Equal Opportunities, Integration and Citizenship reveals alarming statistics: 9 out of 10 LGBTI individuals in Flanders have experienced verbal or psychological violence, and 6 out of 10 have endured sexual violence. Lesbian women and transgender individuals face particularly heightened targeting.
The Dyke* March stands as both acknowledgment of this harsh reality and a defiant celebration of our existence, survival, and resistance. Together, we reclaim space – in the streets, in public discourse, and in history.
The Brussels Dyke* March is inspired by similar marches worldwide, from New York to Berlin. We build upon a rich, but often underrepresented history of lesbian and queer resistance, and invite everyone to join, support, and listen.
